I am also qualified to judge at the Novice level, and
plan to pursue that to the Provincial level in 2007.
My husband and I have developed a weight-training program
at the local high school, and we also work with individual clients who
are interested in pursuing the competitive aspects of bodybuilding.
My career, having started rather late in life, has served
to raise the visibility of bodybuilding, and to promote it, especially
at the Junior and Master/Grand Master level. In the two years that we
have been conducting the highschool program, we have produced: Saskatchewan's
first Jr. Women's Novice champion, who went on to become the first Provincial
champion, and also took first in Jr. Women at the 2005 World Qualifier!!
Our program has also turned out a couple of seriously-dedicated
Jr. Men competitors...one who has taken 1st at the 2005 Novice and Provincial
level and placed 2nd at the 2005 World Qualifier, and came back this
year to place 1st at the 2006 Provincials (and he's still only 17!);
and another who placed 3rd at the 2005 Novice, and 2nd at the 2006 Novice...these
kids are committed and will most probably be life-long bodybuilders.
Last year, we also coached Saskatchewan's oldest Men's
Grand Masters competitor (age 62) to win his class at both the Novice
and Provincial shows....he is currently training hard and planning to
show his stuff at Nationals in September. I am also going to Nationals
this year to compete in the Women's Grand Masters class, and my husband
will be the one to beat for Men's Grand Masters.
